NEW WORLD DEPRESSION are German death metal veterans from the Münsterland region, active since 2005. Originally emerging from the underground with a raw death’n’roll sound, the band evolved into a crushing old-school death metal force inspired by Bolt Thrower, Obituary, and Asphyx. Their music combines heavy groove, rolling rhythms, dark atmosphere, and striking melodies with uncompromising, socially critical lyrics dealing with war, politics, violence, and humanity’s decline.
After years in the DIY underground, numerous shows across Germany and Europe, and sharing stages with bands such as Asphyx, Vader, LIK, Sinister, Tankard, and UADA, the band took a major step forward with ““Descent” (2020) and “Interment of Sins” (2023), both released via Fucking Kill Records and widely praised for their production and songwriting.
Their seventh full-length album “Abysmal Void”, released in September 2025 via Testimony Records, marks a new chapter for NEW WORLD DEPRESSION following the signing of an official recording contract. Recorded by Jörg Uken at Soundlodge Studio, the album stays true to classic 90s death metal while expanding the band’s sound with more groove, atmosphere, and depth. Across ten tracks, Abysmal Void delivers a bleak reflection on humanity’s failures—ending at the edge of total decay.
